Before you cruise with MSC Cruises

Here's some useful information before you set sail on your MSC cruise.

Frequently Asked Questions

Web check-in is accessible starting from 30 days before and up to 24 hours prior to your cruise departure and is necessary to issue your E-ticket and Boarding pass. It is recommended to complete it as early as possible.

Downloading the "MSC for me" app is also recommended as you will immediately have access to pre-cruise and onboard features. Note that the app is available on all ships except MSC Lirica and MSC Sinfonia.

Passports are required for all cruises. Please check that your passport has at least 6 months validity from the return date of your trip. If you or any member of your party is not a British citizen or holds a non-British passport, you must check passport and visa requirements with the Embassy or Consulate of the country(ies) to or through which you are intending to travel. Please always refer to the Foreign Travel Advice by Gov.uk here.

While it is not a a condition of booking that all guests hold fully comprehensive travel insurance that specifically covers cruise holidays, it is strongly recommended that Guests hold adequate cover due to the potential for unexpected events before, during, and after a cruise. Cover must be valid for the entire duration of your chosen itinerary, provides full health coverage for all pre-existing conditions and the costs of medical repatriations, plus specific cover for covid-19 related issues. It should also include Personal Luggage insurance since there is limited liability for loss or damage. Please refer to our trusted partner Just Travel Cover who offer comprehensive cover options from multiple insurers, have no upper age limit, and cover for hundreds of pre-existing medical conditions.

Electricity on board all ships is supplied at a voltage of 110/220 V in the cabin. All MSC cruise ships provide a minimum of 2 US plug sockets and 2 European plug sockets per cabin. Meraviglia, Meraviglia Plus and Seaside class ships also provide USB sockets, ranging from 3-4 per cabin.

The only electrical appliances permitted in cabins are: electric shavers and hairdryers, battery chargers and computers.

Please note that heat-generating devices (like electric kettles, bottle warmers for babies, electric blankets etc.) are not allowed on board. All cabins come equipped with a hair dryer, and baby bottle warmers are available throughout the ship.

MSC Cruises generally follows a smart casual dress code during the evenings, with more formal attire encouraged on Gala Nights. Daytime attire is typically casual, including shorts and t-shirts. The MSC Yacht Club has a more exclusive ambiance and may have specific dress code requirements in its private venues, generally requiring smart casual attire in the evenings, with elegant and glamorous outfits encouraged on Gala evenings. Swimwear should be reserved for the pool, spa, and designated areas. It is also requested that you do not wear jeans, shirts, or shorts in public spaces after 6 pm.

MSC Cruises allows a maximum of two suitcases per person, with each suitcase not exceeding 90x75x43 cm in size and 23 kg in weight. Additionally, guests are allowed two pieces of hand luggage per person. The total luggage for all passengers in one cabin should not exceed 100 kg and/or 8 pieces. Note that, airlines impose their own luggage restrictions so if you are flying to/from the ship, please check what those are.

Guests should inform MSC Cruises of their dietary needs, including allergies, intolerances, Kosher, and Halal requests, at least 30 days before the cruise departure, by using the Special Needs Form available on the MSC Cruises website or by contacting us. It's recommended to confirm your dietary needs with the Maître d'hôtel in the dining area upon boarding to ensure your requirements are met.
