Before you cruise with Royal Caribbean
Here's some useful information before you set sail on your Royal Caribbean cruise.
Frequently Asked Questions
Closer to your sailing date you will be required to complete your online check-in with Royal Caribbean. This must be completed no later than 48 hours prior to embarkation.
You can do so through their website or their mobile app. Once complete, you'll have access to amazing pre-cruise deals on onboard packages, and be able to get your boarding pass, as well as print your luggage tags.
Passports are required for all cruises. Please check that your passport has at least 6 months validity from the return date of your trip. If you or any member of your party is not a British citizen or holds a non-British passport, you must check passport and visa requirements with the Embassy or Consulate of the country(ies) to or through which you are intending to travel. Please always refer to the Foreign Travel Advice by Gov.uk here.
While it is not a a condition of booking that all guests hold fully comprehensive travel insurance that specifically covers cruise holidays, it is strongly recommended that Guests hold adequate cover due to the potential for unexpected events before, during, and after a cruise. Cover must be valid for the entire duration of your chosen itinerary, provides full health coverage for all pre-existing conditions and the costs of medical repatriations, plus specific cover for covid-19 related issues. It should also include Personal Luggage insurance since there is limited liability for loss or damage. Please refer to our trusted partner Just Travel Cover who offer comprehensive cover options from multiple insurers, have no upper age limit, and cover for hundreds of pre-existing medical conditions.
All Royal Caribbean ships are equipped with North American standard, 110 volts AC and standard European 220/230 volts AC plug outlets. Newer ships also include USB charging ports.
Royal Caribbean generally has a relaxed dress code, especially during the day, with casual wear like shorts, jeans, and t-shirts allowed in most public areas. However, swimsuits, cover-ups, and gym wear should be limited to the pool, spa, and fitness center. For evenings, the dress code varies from casual to smart casual, and formal on certain nights.
While there isn't a strict limit on the number of pieces, Royal Caribbean encourages guests to limit the number of bags and prioritize packing efficiently. Luggage may be locked only with a TSA approved lock. Carry-on bags should be manageable and fit through X-ray machines.
Royal Caribbean automatically adds gratuities to your onboard account for most services. These gratuities are generally $18.50 per person per day for non-suite guests and $21.00 per person per day for suite guests, and are distributed to various crew members. You can pre-pay gratuities before your cruise through Royal Caribbean's website. An 18% gratuity is automatically added to the cost of beverage packages, both pre-cruise and onboard. Gratuities are also added to purchases like specialty dining, room service, and spa services.
Royal Caribbean International can accommodate a variety of dietary needs and restrictions, including food allergies, gluten-free, kosher, low-fat, and low-sodium diets. Guests with special dietary requirements should notify Royal Caribbean at least 45 days prior to sailing, and 90 days for European/South American itineraries.
